James "Roy" Wachtel
July 23, 1952 - April 20, 2014
James Louis Wachtel passed away unexpectedly on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014. He was born on July 23, 1952 in Detroit, to his parents the late Ruth and Jerry Wachtel. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Suzanne M. Trahey, and his only sibling, Patricia Wachtel. Suzanne’s seven siblings will miss him greatly. He was the dear son-in-law of Terry M Gates of Plymouth and the late Robert E. Trahey, Sr. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews, Braden Wachtel, Glenn Getyina, R. Spencer Trahey his beloved Godson, Julie Patterson, Janet Haddad, Daniel Kalbfleisch, Kevin Trahey, Rebecca Pawlik, Joseph Pawlik, Emily Pawlik, Quinn McKay and Sean McKay. Each of them will remember his loving influences and encouragement. Jim had a life-long career in music, leading to his common nickname “Roy.” He sang songs by Roy Orbison in his band’s performances. He was known for his distinct sound on the saxophone, now silent. Jim/Roy embarked on a 2nd career at age 50 when he graduated from Henry Ford Community College as an R.N. He served as Novi High School’s first Class President. He was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Detroit, surrounded by his saddened family.
